Hi, folks,
I saw this meme at Lizzy‘s blog and thought it would be fun to do it. I have done something similar in 2018, and this new set of prompts was picked up from Laura. The idea is to answer them using only the titles of books read in 2019. Jean, Karen, O., and Annabel have also done this meme, so check them out!
Using only books you have read in the past year, answer these questions:
- In high school I was The Buddha in the Attic, by Julie Otsuka (2011)
- People might be surprised by The Uncommon Reader, by by Alan Bennett (2007)
- I will never be The Pumpkin Eater, by Penelope Mortimer (1962)
- My fantasy job is Gondal’s Queen, by Emily Bronte, edited by Fannie E. Ratchford (1955)
- At the end of a long day I need The Pillow Book, by Sei Shonagon, tr. Meredith McKinney (2006. Original: Makura no sōshi, c.1002)
- I hate Ambitious Heights, by Norma Clarke (1990)
- Wish I had Wise Blood, by Flannery O’Connor (1952)
- My family reunions are A Riot of Goldfish, by Kanoko Okamoto, tr. J. Keith Vincent (2010. Original: Kingyo Ryōran, 1937/ Shokuma, 1941)
- At a party you’d find me with The King of a Rainy Country, by Brigid Brophy (1956)
- I’ve never been to The Black Lake, by Hella Haasse, tr. Ina Rilke (2012. Original: Oeroeg, 1948)
- A happy day includes Illuminations, by Walter Benjamin, tr. Harry Zohn (Illuminationen, 1969)
- Motto I live by: Nobody is Looking at You, by Janet Malcolm (2019)
- On my bucket list is The Heart of the Matter, by Graham Greene (1948)
- In my next life, I want to have The Awakening, by Kate Chopin (1899)
That’s it. Feel free to have a go at it 🙂
Yours truly,
J.
