Hi, folks,
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and the Bookish and currently hosted by Jana at That Artsy Girl. This week’s topic is
Books On My Autumn 2019 TBR
I am participating in several reading events this Autumn and my corresponding TBRs are all over the place now, but here are the 10 books I will definitely read (or try to):
- Gothic Tales, by Elizabeth Gaskell, edited by Laura Kranzler (2000, from my Classics Club List and RIP TBR)
- Moths, by Ouida, pen name of Maria Louise Ramé (1880, from my Classics Club List and my Victober TBR)
- Belinda, by Rhoda Broughton (1883, from my Classics Club List and my Victober TBR)
- Marcella, by Mrs. Humphry Ward, pen name of Mary Augusta Ward (1894, from my Classics Club List and my Victober TBR)
- Red Pottage, by Mary Cholmondeley (1899, from my Classics Club List and my Victober TBR)
- Victorian Ghosts in the Noontide: Women Writers and the Supernatural, by Vanessa D. Dickerson (1996, from my RIP TBR)
- Diary of a Provincial Lady, by E.M. Delafield (1930, from my Classics Club List and my TBR for The #1930Club, hosted by Karen and Simon in October)
- A Struggle for fame, by Charlotte Riddell (1883, from my Victober TBR)
- Letty Fox: Her Luck by Christina Stead (1946, my Classics Spin #21 and my pick for September’s Gone With The Book, hosted by Mel)
- The Journals of George Eliot, edited by Margaret Harris and Judith Johnston (2000 – this I borrowed from my local library on a whim, just after having finished rereading Middlemarch, as you do…)
And here are some bonus books I may try (if I find the time to):
- The Mysteries of Udolpho, Ann Radcliffe (1794, from my Classics Club List and RIP TBR)
- I, Coriander, by Sally Gardner (2005, from my RIP TBR)
- Things We Lost in the Fire, by Mariana Enríquez, tr. Megan McDowell (2014, from the #Best100WIT list and from my RIP TBR)
That’s all folks! Back in March, I also made a list of Top Ten Books On My Spring 2019 TBR, but only managed to read 4 out of the books I listed there… I hope I will do better with my Autumn picks!
Here are the books I read from my Spring list:
Have you read any of the books I chose for Autumn? And which are the books on your TBR this season?
Yours truly,
J.

An interesting range of books there! I struggled a little with Christina Stead, so I’ll be interested to hear how you get one! 😀

Thank you, Karen! I’ve just started reading it, and so far I am enjoying the voice… I will try to write a review here, when I finish it.

I’m not much of a classics reader, so I haven’t even heard of most of these! I hope you love them, though 🙂
Happy TTT!
