Hi, folks,
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and the Bookish and currently hosted by Jana at That Artsy Girl. This week’s topic is
Books On My Spring 2019 TBR
Here’s my list:
- Mouthful of Birds, by Samanta Schweblin (this book is on the Man Booker International longlist)
- Nobody’s Looking at You: Essays, by Janet Malcolm (this book was released in February and, hey, it’s Malcolm – I love her work)
- Memories of the Future, by Siri Hustvedt (another recent release by a favourite author)
- Spring, by Ali Smith (the next book in Smith’s Seasonal series)
- Berg, by Ann Quin (one of the new-to-me authors to read in 2019)
- The Years, by Annie Ernaux (another book from the Man Booker International longlist)
- Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi (this book is on the Women’s Prize for Fiction longlist)
- Doppelgänger by Daša Drndić ( this book is on the Republic of Consciousness Prize shortlist)
- Iphigenia, by Teresa de la Parra (a book by a Venezuelan author? Bring it on!)
- The Well of Loneliness, by Radclyffe Hall (this is on my Classics Club list)
That’s all folks! Have you read any of these books? What are the books on your Spring TBR?
Yours truly,
J.

Interesting list! I’m keen to read Annie Enrnaux too! 😀

I read Three by Anne Quin last year and was impressed by it. There seems to be a bit of a resurgence of interest in her work, which is great.

This is the third TTT blog I’ve seen this week that mentioned Ali Smith’s Spring. I’d never heard of that book or author before today, but now I’m getting more and more curious about them.

Lovely list, Juliana! Spring is on the top of my list as well and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. Hopefully we’ll both love it. I’m very curious about Freshwater and The Well of Loneliness and look forward to hearing your thoughts. Happy spring reading!!

Great list! I’m listening to the audio of Freshwater right now, and I’m enjoying it a lot. It’s written in an unusual style, but I think it works really well as an audiobook. The Quin and Ernaux also look interesting, so I’ll have to keep an eye out for them.

What an interesting list! The Well of Loneliness is a classic I keep meaning to read myself. I’m particularly interested in reading Esi Edugyan’s Washington Black this spring: I think it comes out in paperback pretty soon here.

I haven’t read Samanta Schweblin’s Mouthful of Birds yet but it’s definitely on my TBR. Fever Dream was surreal.
